How Workspace Deletion Works

Five stages, from the Owner’s request to the retention boundaries that apply afterwards.

  1. Deletion Requested

An authorized workspace Owner initiates deletion from Setu CRM.

  2. 30-Day Recovery Period

The workspace is frozen. New business activity, messaging and automation associated with the workspace are restricted. The Owner can restore the workspace during this period.

  3. Recovery Deadline

If the Owner does not restore the workspace before the deadline, the workspace becomes eligible for permanent purge.

  4. Permanent Purge

Setu permanently deletes workspace data held in its active systems and covered by the deletion process.

  5. Retention / Backup Boundaries

Information required for billing, payment, legal, security, audit or compliance purposes may be retained. Backup copies follow the normal backup lifecycle.

During the 30-Day Recovery Period

While the workspace waits for the recovery deadline, this is what applies.

  • Workspace is frozen

  • New workspace data creation is restricted

  • Messaging and automation are restricted

  • Background jobs associated with the workspace are prevented from continuing

  • Owner can restore the workspace

  • Restoration is only available before the recovery deadline

Owners can restore the workspace before the recovery deadline after completing the required authentication.

What Happens When the Workspace Is Permanently Purged?

Setu’s deletion process removes workspace data held in active systems that is covered by the purge process. This is a summary, not an exhaustive list.

Covered by the purge

  • Workspace operational data
  • CRM records
  • Leads, contacts and related workspace records
  • Properties and related records
  • Messaging and application data covered by the purge
  • Workspace files stored by Setu
  • Workspace-specific operational configuration and data covered by the purge
Some records may be retained
  • Billing and payment records
  • Required legal and compliance records
  • Required security and audit records
  • Backup copies during the normal backup lifecycle
  • Data held by external platforms

Certain billing, payment, legal, security, audit, or compliance records may be retained where required or permitted by applicable obligations.

Backup copies may persist temporarily as part of Setu’s normal backup retention and replacement cycle. They are not treated as active workspace data and are removed or overwritten according to the applicable backup lifecycle.
